Missing coast guard man found dead

The body of Rezaul Karim, a coast guard member who went missing Saturday night after a speed boat carrying coast guards capsized in Pashur river, was recovered yesterday. A joint team of coast guards, navy, Mongla Port authority and forest department recovered the body floating on the river yesterday morning. Earlier on Sunday, coast guards found the sunken speedboat. Coast Guard West Zone Commander Saidur Rahman said, Saturday night, on information that a gang of pirates attacked a foreign ship in the port area, a team of 10 coast guards rushed to the spot on a speedboat. Later on their way back, the speedboat hit a lifebuoy and capsized in the river, he said. A sea-boat from Mongla Port rescued nine of the coast guards, while Rezaul went missing. Rejaul, hailed from Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat, joined Bangladesh Navy as a combatant in January 2007 and he was attached with the Mongla West Zone Coast Guard from October 2010.
