Rajpunnah in Bandarban today

Rajpunnah, the oldest traditional festival in Chittagonmg Hill Tracts (CHT), will be held at Bandarban town today. The festival is being held since 1875. Rajbari source informed that on 10.30 at morning the 15th king (Bohmaoug Raja) Aong Swe Prue Choudhury, the 15th Bomang King, will collect taxes from Jhum cultivators on this day. Brig. Gen. M Mahfuzur Rahaman, Army Brigade Commander in Bandarban, will also attend the programme. On this occasion, a large number of tourists have arrived in the town from home and abroad. All hotels, motels and tourist cottages are full with tourist. A traditional fair marking the occasion will continue till Saturday.
