IIUC pro-VC detained
Police detained Prof Dr Abu Bakar Rafeeq, pro-vice chancellor of the International Islamic University, Chittagong (IIUC), from Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city yesterday.
Police detained him in connection with September 19 incident at Muradpur intersection where Jamaat activists clashed with police at the time of a procession.
Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patenga Police Station, said a team of police and airport immigration police jointly detained Prof Bakar from airport around 6.00pm.
Mentionable, Abdul Mannan, assistant commissioner of Chittagong metropolitan police and two other police personnel were injured on September 19 incident.
