Hearing on probe against Alim today

Staff Correspondent
The International Crimes Tribunal will today hear a petition for permission to question former BNP lawmaker Abdul Alim, accused of war crimes, at a Dhanmondi safe home. Shahinur Islam, registrar of the tribunal, told reporters yesterday that the tribunal will also hear the progress report on the investigation into the allegations against Alim of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War. Earlier on Sunday, the ICT investigators submitted through the prosecution the petition for permission to interrogate Alim. Though Alim was present at the tribunal that day in compliance with its order issued on July 21, the hearing was postponed, as the three-member panel of the judges was in the Netherlands on an official visit.
