JU students lock hall canteen

JU Correspondent
Resident female students of Nawab Faizunnesa Hall of Jahangirnagar University (JU) locked the hall canteen around 8:30am yesterday protesting the substandard food offered there that was causing health problems to the students. For a long time now, the canteen was providing unhygienic low-quality food to the students at high costs, the students complained. As a result of eating such foods, many students developed various health problems including intestinal disorders like diarrhoea, dysentery and abdominal pain, they said. Despite repeated student complaint on the matter, the hall authority did not take any action, they said. The hall provost Prof Dr S M Badiar Rahman told The Daily Star that he will sit with the hall students to solve the problem.
