RMG workers agitate for salary
Several hundred workers of a garment factory took to the street and halted vehicular movement on DIT Road in the city yesterday for over one hour demanding their arrear salaries and overtime allowance.
Witnesses said some 400 to 500 workers of Jesika Garment Factory staged demonstrations near Rampura Bazar from around 10:00am.
Due to the agitation, traffic movement came into a halt causing a huge tailback on the road and adjacent areas, said witnesses.
Rampura Police Station OC Delwar Hossain Khan told The Daily Star that the workers were cooled down by the assurance of the garment authorities who started disbursing the salaries in the evening.
