Islami University vandalised
Several hundred students of private Bangladesh Islami University yesterday staged demonstrations on the campus at the city's Gopibagh for six hours and vandalised it protesting "irregularities" of the authorities and realising various demands.
Witnesses said the students began the agitation at 10:00am and ransacked furniture of three floors of the 10-storey building on the main campus.
The students also demanded appointment of quality teachers and removal of the acting registrar and a deputy registrar for "misbehaviour" with them.
A student seeking anonymity said they asked the authorities for placing reason behind removal of Business Faculty teacher Idris Ali, but they denied to reply.
Dr Anwarul Islam, VC of the university, told The Daily Star that the removal order of the teacher has been cancelled and other demands would also be met soon.
