One sea truck withdrawn from Barisal-Laxmipur route
One of the two sea trucks plying Barisal-Laxmipur river route has been withdrawn, creating sufferings to passengers.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has withdrawn ST Khizir-8 to place it on Teknaf-Kutubdia-St. Martins route, sources said.
Only one sea truck -- ST Khizir-6is now plying on Barisal-Laxmipur route that connects the divisional city with Chittagong through bus.
ST Khizir-6 and ST Khizir-8 had been plying the route every day. The lone sea truck will ply the route three days a week, BIWTC sources said.
Different organisations including Barisal Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Nagorik Parishad, protested the withdrawal.
