Dhaka is one of the most densely populated cities of the world. Here a huge amount of waste is produced every day. These waste materials are creating environmental pollution (such as air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, etc.), and interrupting the waste water flow through drains, blocking those. So, proper waste management is necessary to avoid these adverse impacts on the environment and human health. Waste management involves: monitoring, collection, transportation, processing and disposal of wastes. Solid waste materials such as glass, plastic, etc., can be recycled. A study showed that the decomposable waste materials that is produced a day in Dhaka can be used for the production of a good amount of electricity which can meet the demand of twenty thousand people living in the city. So, this will not only reduce pollution, but also create new job opportunities for the unemployed. Effective waste management strategies can make a cleaner Dhaka.
