Sahara for CCTVs in cattle markets
Home Minister Sahara Khatun yesterday urged the cattle market authorities to set up Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and fake currency identifier machines ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
She made the call against the backdrop of some recent incidents of currency forgeries in the city.
She also said mobile courts will be launched, if necessary.
Talking to reporters at her secretariat office, she said traders should check the notes before receiving the money as forgers are active ahead of the upcoming Eid.
Law enforcers and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel will be on alert to check smuggling of rawhides, she added.
Bangladesh Tanners' Association urged the minister to take steps to keep rawhide trading and transporting free from extortionists during the Eid.
They have also given a list of some smuggling points in border areas urging to set up check posts there.
Meanwhile, Sahara urged the owners of garment factories to disburse their workers' salaries before Eid-ul-Azha.
