Outlaw killed in shootout with Rab
A top cadre of the outlawed Janajudhdha faction of Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) was killed in an encounter between Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and his cohorts at Goaishbari village in Ataikula police station yesterday.
The deceased is Mohammad Ali,28, second-in-command of PBCP-Janajudhdha. Rab also recovered firearms, bullets and bombs from the spot.
Acting on a tip-off, the Rab team raided Goaishbari Natunpara village at about 2.15 am yesterday where the criminals took shelter. Sensing Rab presence, criminals opened fire and hurled bombs towards the Rab team. Then the elite force returned fire in self-defence. After a shootout for several minutes, criminals fled away leaving Mohammad Ali dead on the spot, Rab said.
Ali was accused in seven cases for murder, extortion and other crimes, lodged with Ataikula, Santhia and Faridpur police stations, Rab said.
