Good triumphs over evil

Our heartiest congratulations to Selina Hayat Ivy for winning the Narayanganj City Corporation election. She defeated Shamim Osman by a huge margin. It is the victory of good over evil, humbleness over arrogance, and concern for the people over selfish desire. We were very surprised by the news of Awami League supporting Shamim Osman, an ill-reputed man who is also known as a godfather. It is alleged that he had been involved in many despicable crimes. Supporting Shamim Osman was not a good idea and Awami League should be ashamed of its decision. They had done it knowing that they could use him for partisan interests. Though Ivy belongs to the Awami League, still it is a defeat for the party. It should be an eye-opener for the Awami League; they should change themselves and think about the welfare of the people and select candidates who are willing to work for the country.
