Detective police have suspected that feud over a disputed piece of land was one of the reasons behind the killing of ward level BNP leader Abdul Baki alias Milton. Baki, 40, owned a cable business and was a contractor of Public Works Department. A resident of the city's West Shewrapara and vice-president of Ward-40 unit BNP, he was found shot dead near his office at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Tuesday. Police arrested Baki's two friends Saiful Huq Mamun, 38, of Shewrapara and Giausuddin Montu, 40, alias Kissinger Montu of Lalmatia in connection with the killing. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mahbubor Rahman of Detective Branch (DB-North division) told The Daily Star that the BNP leader was killed following feud among friends. Last evening, Baki's wife Laboni Jesmin sued Mamun and Montu and their two friends -- Abul Kashem and Motaleb alias Sajal with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. Jesmin said her husband was killed following feuds over the control of his cable business, a piece of land, and his protest against illegal drug trade at his office. Assistant Commissioner Anisur Rahman of Tejgaon Division said Mamun and Montu took part in the killing along with Kashem and Sajal. The AC quoted Mamun as saying disagreement between Baki and Kashem over selling of a piece of disputed land in Janata Housing area in West Kafrul led to the killing.
