BSTI ordinance to be amended
The government has decided to amend the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) Ordinance 1985 to ensure quality goods production in the country.
The decision came from a high-level meeting of the Ministry of Industries yesterday.
Chaired by Industries Secretary KH Masud Siddique senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting.
Earlier, a committee was formed to make necessary amendments to the BSTI Ordinance 1985. Meeting sources said the committee has already started its work to amend the ordinance.
The amended ordinance will be placed in the next BSTI council meeting for its approval.
The meeting also laid emphasis on taking immediate steps to implement the National Industrial Policy 2010.
