Man commits suicide in port city
A man committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his residence at Halishahar in the port city yesterday.
The deceased, Shamsul Alam, 50, was an unemployed.
Police said Shamsul did not respond from inside his room when family members knocked the door in the morning. Later, his family informed the police.
Quoting family members, Sub-Inspector Md Idris Miyan of Halishahar Police Station said Shamsul used to take drugs and he had no progeny.
Depression might be the reason behind the suicide, police suspect.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy.
