Road crashes kill 4

Four people were killed and 35 others injured in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Jhenidah and Narail on Thursday and yesterday. Our Jhenidah correspondent reports: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot when his motorcycle collided head-on with a human hauler at Ramchandrapur bazar in Kaliganj upazila yesterday. The deceased was Swadesh Kumar, 40, son of Gurupada Biswas, of Binodpur village of the upazila. Police recovered the body and sent it to district sadar hospital for autopsy. Our Narail correspondent adds: At least five people were injured when a speedy motorbike hit a bicycle from behind on the Jessore-Narail highway near Chasra Bus Stand at Chourasta in the district on Thursday. The injured were admitted to Narail Sadar Hospital. Our Gopalganj correspondent says: At least three people, including a minor girl, were killed and 30 others injured when a Khulna-bound bus hit a stationed microbus after run over a pedestrian and fell into a roadside ditch in Gopinathpur area at Sadar upazila in the district yesterday morning. The deceased were Chan Mia, 65, Khabir Uddin Molla, 60, and eight year old Sumi, daughter of Mintu Molla. They lived in different villages of the upazila. The injured were admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital and different hospitals in the district.
