OC sent to jail for rape attempt
A Chittagong court yesterday sent Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kasba Police Station of Brahmanbaria, to jail in a case for his alleged attempt to violate a college student.
Chief Metropolitan Judge ABM Nijamul Haque also rejected his bail prayer. Mizanur took bail from higher court till November 13.
The victim's father filed a case with Panchlaish Police Station on July 16.
It stated that Mizanur, during an official tour on July 11, forcibly picked up the girl from city's Foy's Lake area, confined her in a hotel at Chawk Bazar and tried to violate her.
The girl managed to dodge the attack and lock herself inside the bathroom. She contacted her guardians, who rescued her in an unconscious state, added the statement.
Mizanur surrendered himself before the court on October 31.
