Call to declare Bangla as official language at UN
Different organisations yesterday in a joint statement urged the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to declare Bangla as the official language at UN immediately.
Mentioning that about 40 crore people of Bangladesh and India's West Bengal and other areas communicate in Bangla, they said that since many people speak in Bangla, it is reasonable to establish Bangla as the official language at UN.
Some 21 organisations, including Biswa Bangalee Sammelan, Biswa Kobi Sammelan Parishad, Biswa Kabita Kantho and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, jointly gave the statement.
