Quota versus merit
For providing some facilities to some special groups of society, quota system is commonly practised almost all over the world. But Bangladesh may be the only country where quota gets preference over merit.
In case of the BCS exams, 55% seats are reserved for certain groups of people, among which 30% seats are reserved only for the freedom fighters' children. I am not against the quota for the freedom fighters' children, but it's time the government justified this system.
We respect our freedom fighters. But emotion should not get preference over merit. If the existing quota system is not revised, the general candidates will be frustrated and ultimately the nation will suffer.
