BNP to raise protest in JS

BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury yesterday said his party would raise strong protest in the parliament as well as on the streets against the government's inaction over India's move to construct Tipaimukh dam. He said the government did not clear its position even after signing the contract on Tipai dam. Mobin told a view exchange meeting with reporters in the city. BNP would announce a fresh programme after weeklong agitation ending through December 1 hartal over the issue in Sylhet, he said. Urging a clear and a single stance, he said BNP are ready to join protest against the Tipaimukh project with the ruling party or the government. Mobin said BNP will inform about the Indian prime minister's letter, replied to Khaleda Zia on Saturday, to the press soon. The communication with the Indian government will continue, he added. Former whip Fazlul Haque Aspia, former lawmakers-Naser Rahman, Abeda Chowdhury, Habiganj Pourashava mayor GK Gous, Chhatak Upazila Parishad Chairman Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, city BNP president MA Haque, district secretary MA Gaffar and others were also present.
