Death anniversary
Today is the first death anniversary of Chitra Bhattacharya, a former member of the parliament and a leader of human rights movement, said a press release.
On the occasion, Justice Debesh Bhattacharya and Chitra Bhattacharya Foundation will organise several programmes in the capital and in Ellenga, Tangail.
An elected MP from Tangail, Chitra played an active role in pursuing feminist issues and various social agendas throughout her life.
She, also a former member of parliamentary standing committee on finance, and former vice president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, was associated with many social and philanthropic organisations, the release said.
