Shamsul Huq gets Mazharul Islam poetry award
Bangla Academy yesterday conferred Mazharul Islam Kobita Puroshkar (poetry award) 2011 on eminent poet and litterateur Syed Shamsul Huq for his outstanding contributions to Bangla poetry.
The academy presented the award to him at a programme at its seminar room, says a press release.
Noted educationist Zillur Rahman Siddiqui handed over a crest, a cheque of Tk 1 lakh, and a certificate to the poet.
The academy instituted the award last year in memory of its first director general, noted poet and folklorist Dr Mazharul Islam, in association with his family.
