Christian happy over governance in Bangladesh

German President Christian Wulff yesterday appreciated Bangladesh's role and engagement in ensuring peace and stability in South Asia. He told this when Foreign Minister Dipu Moni called on him at Hotel Westin in the city. During the meeting, he expressed his satisfaction over the functioning and incremental strengthening of the democratic processes and overall governance in Bangladesh. He also called for Bangladesh's participation in the International Conference on reconstruction of Afghanistan in Bonn early December, said a foreign ministry press release. Dipu Moni said a high-level delegation from Bangladesh would join the conference. Acknowledging Germany's contributions to the Bangladesh's development, she requested for the latter's greater attention to the challenges faced by the least developed countries and the climate-vulnerable countries. She appreciated Germany's role in global platforms, including UN, G-8, G-20, WTO, COP-17, and leadership in knowledge generation, particularly in science.
