Non-performing ministries

Nur Jahan, Chittagong
The government has made a mess of everything. Looking around, we do not find any sector functioning as it should. The communications ministry, finance ministry, home ministry and foreign ministry have made us dissatisfied. People have become enraged and demonstrating against those who are in charge of these ministries. When the incidence of crimes have gone up and people are apprehensive, Home Minister Sahara Khatun has declared that law and order is better than ever before. The foreign ministry is a great disappointment and we think it should be reshuffled. It is meaningless to waste taxpayers' money on the ministry which has totally failed in carrying out its responsibility. The foreign ministry does not know what is happening about Tipaimukh and Teesta. At the last minute, foreign minister Dipu Moni assured us that Teesta deal would be signed, but it turned out that she was ill-informed. Later, when she was asked by the media about the timing of Teesta water sharing deal, she replied, "I am not a fortune-teller, how could I say?" Recently, eight Bangladeshis were beheaded in Saudi Arabia. It could have been prevented, had our foreign ministry taken timely and fruitful steps. We do not understand why Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is so kind towards those who are failing in carrying out their duties.
