He served Gano Forum as a member of the party's presidium council, the Prakton Chhatra League Foundation as president, and Rajshahi University Central Student Union as its general secretary. Rouf was one of the leaders of the mass-upsurge in 1969. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban's south plaza after Zohar prayers yesterday. He will be buried at his family graveyard after his second namaz-e-janaza at Bugdokra village under Domar upazila in Nilphamari today. Mohammad Abdus Shaheed, chief whip of Jatiya Sangsad, has expressed deep shock at his death. In a press release, he said politician Rouf was an organiser of the War of Liberation in 1971. With the demise of Rouf, the country had lost a patriotic leader and an organiser, he added.
