Couple detained over negligence
A couple was detained from their Mohammadpur residence on charges of negligence in treatment for their teen-age domestic help who died yesterday morning.
Kamrun Nahar, 16, daughter of rickshaw puller Abul Kashem of a village in Comilla, had worked in the house of Mostafa Kamal, an employee of Dhaka Power Distribution Company.
Police said she had been suffering from fever and other complications for four days but her employer did not provide her any treatment, which caused the death.
Kamrun's father told police that two days ago Kamal informed him over phone that his daughter was sick.
When he came to Dhaka to take his daughter home he found that Kamrun had died.
After the death, locals informed the police that the girl died without any treatment.
According to the information, the police detained Kamal and his wife Kawser Akhter from their rented residence at Zakir Hossain Road in the afternoon.
