Death anniversary

Today is the 23rd death anniversary of Begum Anwara Khatun, a member of erstwhile Bengal Legislature Assembly. She died in 1988 after a prolonged illness. Anwara, one of the founders of the Awami League, opposed the Muslim League government in the Assembly and actively involved in the historic Language Movement in 1952, said a press release. She was a close associate of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Maulana Bhasani and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
