Badsha, Topu new president, general secretary of DRU

Shakhawat Hossain Badsha of the daily Inqilab and Sajjad Alam Khan Topu of the daily Jugantor were elected president and general secretary respectively of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) yesterday. Badsha bagged 416 votes while his nearest rival Motahar Hossain Masum of daily Ittefaq got 331 votes. Topu got 372 votes while his rival Rakib Hasnet Suman of The Daily Star attained 301. Other office-bearers are -- Vice-president Asaduzzaman Samrat; Joint Secretary Khokon Borua (uncontested); Finance Secretary Shafiqul Islam; Organising Secretary Shariful Islam (uncontested); Office Secretary Kazi Habib (unopposed); Publicity and Publication Secretary Shahidul Islam (uncontested); Training and Research Secretary Halim Mohammad (unopposed); Sports Secretary Morsalin Ahmed; Cultural Secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan; Entertainment Secretary Aminul Haque Bhuiyan; Women Affairs Secretary Alpha Azru (unopposed); and Welfare Secretary Nazmul Ahmed Towfiq (unopposed). The executive committee members are Hasan Arif, Mostofa Kajal, Sajjad Hossain, Atikur Rahman, Shahed Matiur Rahman, Mojibur Rahman and Salauddin Ahmed Bablu.
