Sylhet BNP announces fresh agitation
After the daylong hartal in Sylhet yesterday, the Sylhet district and city units of BNP announced a fresh agitation programme for 37 days begins today protesting the move to construct Tipaimukh Dam by India.
District BNP chief M Ilyas Ali announced the programme in the evening.
The programme includes, view-exchange meeting with different organisations in Sylhet division from December 2 to 15, demonstration at upazilas on December 20, human chain in all four district headquarters of the division on December 26, 4-hour hunger strike on December 29, demonstration and rally in four district towns on January 2 and rally on the estuary of Surma and Kushiyara rivers at Zakiganj on January 7.
The dawn-to-dusk hartal was observed peacefully with pickets only vandalising a few rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and cars early morning yesterday.
