Dr Jalal Alamgir drowns in sea in Thailand
Dr Jalal Alamgir, an associate professor of Boston University in the US and son of Awami League lawmaker Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, drowned as he was taking a bath along with his wife in the sea in Thailand yesterday.
Dr Jalal was 40. He got married one year ago and went to Bangkok with his wife on December 2.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock at the death of Dr Jalal Alamgir, reports UNB. In a condolence message, she prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family.
Prof Muntasir Uddin Khan Mamun, cousin of the deceased, told The Daily Star that they were trying to bring the body home soon from Thailand.
Dr Jalal Alamgir, who had been teaching political science at Boston University, was on a one-year vacation, the family sources said.
