Spread anti-graft campaign across country: ACC chief
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury yesterday said movement against corruption should be spread every nook and corner of the country and corrupt people should be socially boycotted.
Addressing a view exchange meeting at Khulna Zia hall yesterday afternoon, he said people of all walks of life should join the ongoing anti-corruption drive with courage and conviction, reports our staff correspondent from Khulna.
Time has come to root out corruption not only from metropolitan cities and district towns, but also from upazila levels, he said.
"Corruption must be rooted out at any cost and at any risk. There must be some visible instances that corrupt people, irrespective of their professions, have got frightened so that they willingly surrender their ill-gotten money to the government," the ACC chief said.
Stressing on moral education to save the next generation from the curse of corruption, he said creating mass awareness is needed as corruption cannot be prevented just by issuing official orders.
Chaired by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Yunusur Rahman, the meeting was attended by over a thousand of people from all strata of life was addressed among others by ACC DG Md Abu Taleb Mian and DIG of Khulna Range Police Md Asaduzzaman.
Hasan Mashhud also exchanged views with the audience on ways to prevent corruption.
Our Satkhira Correspondent adds: The ACC also addressed a view exchange meeting at Sadar upazila auditorium in the town high government and non-government officials, local government body representatives, educationists, professionals and people from all walks of life attended.
