PM leaves for Myanmar, Indonesia today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaves here today for two nations visit to Myanmar and Indonesia for five days.
In her first leg of visit, Hasina will first pay a three-day bilateral visit to Myanmar and then fly for Indonesia to attend an international conference styled “Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) IV.
The prime minister (PM) will lead a 90-member delegation, including a 38-member high profile business team, six eminent personalities, 12-member security personnel and 7-member official press team.
While in Bali, the goddess Island of Indonesia, Hasina will lead a 45-member team.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Ambassador-at-large Mohammad Ziauddin and PM's son Sajeeb Ahmed Wajed will accompany the prime minister in both Myanmar and Indonesia tour.
As per the schedule, the PM will leave for Myanmar by a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 2:00pm today and expected to reach Nay Pyi Taw Airport in the new national capital of Myanmar at 4:05pm local time.
Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin and Bangladesh Ambassador in Yangon Major Gen Anup Kumar Chakma will receive the premier at the airport.
Hasina will depart Myanmar at 9:50am (local time) on Wednesday (Dec 7) for Bali via Kuala Lumpur by a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The prime minister will reach Bali at 6:00pm (local time) on Dec 7 and stay at Grand Hyatt Bali.
On December 8 (Thursday), Hasina will attend the inaugural session of Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) IV at Westin Resort in Nusa Dua. Indonesia will host BDF with Bangladesh as the co-chair.
The main theme of the BDF IV is "Enhancing Democratic Participation in a Changing World: Responding to Democratic Voices."
Some 50 countries have registered for the BDF so far, and more are expected to follow suit.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will chair the BDF with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the co-chair. The forum will focus on efforts towards enhanced people's participation by way of responding to democratic voices, and relevant issues involved in the process.
Sheikh Hasina is expected to return home in the afternoon on December 9.
