Ex-BNP MP Ilyas asked to submit wealth info

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked former lawmaker and Sylhet district BNP Convener M Ilyas Ali to submit wealth statement within seven days. As the notice reached his village house on Tuesday afternoon, a relative received it while Ali's wife Taslima Rushdi received another copy of the notice at his Dhaka address. The ACC notice also asked for the wealth statement and sources of earning of his wife and the other people dependent on him. The notice signed by the deputy director of Sylhet ACC said failing in submission of the statements as asked for or submission of false statements will lead to legal actions. Ilyas Ali allegedly realised huge amount of illegal commission from the development projects in his constituency and faces several extortion cases. He is also accused of conducting repressive activities on the opposition leaders during his tenure as a lawmaker. Ilyas Al's name came in the ACC's latest list of corruption suspects.
