Nursing college closed

College authorities shut down Rajshahi Nursing College indefinitely and had the dormitories vacated following angry demonstrations and vandalising of college property by students on the campus yesterday. At around noon, agitating students locked the college Principal Sadeka Khatun in her office and staged a sit-in in front of the administration building with their demand. Police and campus sources said, for several days, the students were demanding supplementary examination for those who fail in more than one subject in the final examination. Around 4:00pm, police rescued the principal and dispersed the students by charging batons on them that left some 20 students injured. Among the injured, Susmita, Bipasha, Sultana, Mahmuda, Shilpi and Asif were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Protesting the baton charge, the students vandalised furniture and windows of the administration building. Following this, the college authorities shut down the college until further notice.
