Speedy war crimes trial demanded
Speakers at a human chain programme, organised by Bangabandhu Shishu Khishore Mela city unit, yesterday demanded speedy trial of those who committed crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation in 1971.
They raised the demand saying the perpetrators may create anarchy to stop the on-going trial process urging the countrymen to be alert to the issue.
Criticising the BNP, the party chief Khaleda Zia has taken the side of the anti-liberation forces while the government has started the process to try the war criminals, they said.
The programme was held at Shaheb Bazar Zero Point.
Rajshahi city mayor's wife Shaheen Akter Reny, Rajshahi city unit AL acting general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Badsha, National Awami Party district unit secretary Mustafizur Rahman Khan Alom, freedom fighter Farhad Ali Miya, the organisation's city unit president Ektejar Morshed Shayamal and general secretary Jamil Hossain Jony spoke at the event.
