Death anniversary
Today is the 40th death anniversary of Shaheed Nazrul Islam, a freedom fighter. Different socio-political organisations including Shaheed Nazrul Islam Smriti Parishad, Muktijoddha Sangsad of Gazaria Upazila unit, Gazaria Upazila Muktijoddha Kalyan Samity have chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day, said a press release. The programmes include placing floral wreaths at his mazar, qurankhani, food distribution among poor people and discussion. Nazrul sacrificed his life on this day in a battle against the Pakistani occupation forces during the Liberation War in 1971 at Boushia in Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj.
