Voters decline in Satkhira
The number of voters declined by six percent in the fresh list prepared here under supervision of joint forces.
Satkhira Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) AHM Abdul Karim disclosed this at a press conference held at Sadar upazila auditorium yesterday.
A total of 2,78,832 voters were registered in Sadar upazila including Satkhira Pourasava following completion of the task of voter list preparation with photographs on Thursday.
The UNO said people who could not enlist their names till now would be able to register their names any time.
Major Reran said distribution of national identity cards will begin on February 15.
As many as, 67,387 people registered their names as voters in Satkhira Pourasava this year while it was 70,810 in 2006. This year, 2,11,445 registered their names as voters in Sadar upazila while it was 2,25,095 in 2006, he said.
