B'baria ward commissioner held for graft

The court sent Kasba Pourasabha ward commissioner Nazim Uddin Sarkar following his arrest by Brahmanbaria Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday. On October 17 last year, Brahmanbaria ACC Assistant Director Shaheen Ara Mamataj filed 11 cases against 11 ward commissioners of Kasba Pourasabha as primary investigation found them responsible for causing the government huge revenue loss by allocating shops at Kasba Pourasabha Super Market at cheap rate. On that day, the ACC official with the help of Kasba police arrested five accused ward commissioners -- Md Abul Hasan, Md Jasim Uddin Ahmed, Md Akter Hossain, Md Hira Mia and Shahidul Islam, ACC and police said. Five other ward commissioners including three females are still absconding.
