15-day Zainul fair begins in Mymensingh

A 15-day Fine Arts and Handicrafts Fair began at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrashala (art gallery) at Shaheb Quarter Park area in the district town yesterday afternoon. A total of 125 paintings of over 117 artistes from greater Mymensingh are on display at the exhibition. Prof. Dr. M Shamsur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Biswabidhalaya in Trishal inaugurated the fair as chief guest. The fair being held under the banner of Greater Mymensingh Fine Arts Coordination Forum, first of its kind in Mymensingh, will continue till February 14. The 15-day programme also includes discussion meetings, cultural shows, folk songs and screening of documentary films. To oversee the programme, a 13-member committee was formed earlier with artistes Hossain Mohammed Faruq and Md. Farhad Hossain Tarafder, acting principal of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Fine Arts Institute, as convener and joint-convener respectively. A total of 20 stalls have been set up at the handicrafts fair.
