Here are some comments that came in response to Tuesday's The Daily Star news report headlined “No good news in politics.” Abdul Kadir
We should try to do something good and innovative which will help us to build a prosperous Bangladesh. We also need to raise awareness among people to change our nasty political culture for the betterment of the country. Pathik
What happened in January 2007 may happen again in the country, if proper initiative is not taken urgently by the government. Recently, by 15th amendment to the constitution, any extra-constitutional bid to usurp state power has been forbidden. In that connection, some are wont to believe that the military will never take power with anybody's consent or otherwise. However, the government must be careful as to whether they will push the country into confrontation or save the country from another 1/11. Shamim
Hasina is making the same mistake as all other previous governments had made. Khaleda tried it prior to the last election and failed. Hasina is now trying the same thing which is bound to fail. Our literacy rate and per capita income have not reached a level where a successful democratic takeover will be possible without a caretaker government. Politics of vengeance continues in Bangladesh! No news is good news at least when the CTG system is concerned. It would not serve the purpose of democracy. Manzoor Ashraf
The Awami League has failed to implement majority of its pledges but it is now trying to hide its failures by blaming the opposition. The AL is also trying to distract people's attention from this issue by blowing up the ongoing war crimes trials and upcoming national elections out of proportions. Narayan
Khaleda Zia tried to manipulate the last election, not Sheikh Hasina. Salam
There has not been any good news in the political scene of Bangladesh ever since the vendetta and hatred between the two political leaders started and only Allah knows when this will end. Afreen
The Awami League is afraid of CTG, because they don't want to go to jail again. Why are they afraid? It proves that they are not taking proper actions against corruption and terrorism. But they still have time to do that and reinstate the CTG system to protect our country from anarchy. Anonymous
The best alternative for Bangladesh is to implement the minus two formula. If that is not done, the confrontation will continue and the political atmosphere will be much worse in the future. We think Bangladesh is ready for the change in leadership.
