So many days to celebrate

Mashudul Haque, Central Road, Dhaka
We have been observing over the last few decades that almost every single day is being designated as a special day and being observed all over the world, such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and so on. The organisers celebrate such days to gain economic benefits. They market their products and earn huge amounts of money. A third world country like Bangladesh easily gets attracted to such celebrations, not knowing what impact it would make on its culture. I also wonder why we don't have a No War Day or No Killing Day. I think we need to wake up and do extensive soul searching to do the things that would bring peace and take our nation to a prestigious position.
