Power makes people arrogant. Winners show their muscle when they are in power while losers portray themselves as innocent. When the table is turned around, the same game will be played again with the victims turning out to be the new monsters of the town. Humaun Kabir
I think next time we will vote for the BNP. Last time we voted for the Awami League-led grand alliance which was a big mistake. Anonymous
Please look at the mayoral election of the Comilla city. I think that's exactly the situation all over Bangladesh. Dr. Quamrul
The survey reflected very clearly what exactly the people think. An overconfident prime minister and uncontrolled students and youth bodies are to blame. Dr karim
The sample size is too small for any prediction. Md Mohiuddin Moral
At first I want to say that the present situation is not so favourable for the ruling party. Inflation, law and order situation, nepotism, and many other things have made the situation worse. If the government can not come out of the situation, it would lose in the next election. Nagorik
Last general election was not free and fir. The Awami League and its blind supporters worked hard with CG to win the election. Now if there is a chance of holding a free and fair election, AL will hardly get 20% votes. Anonymous
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is much better than Awami League. The main reason of BNP's gaining popularity is the government's misrule. Ushnisha
This is good news. I, like many others in the country, am not a follower of a particular political party. However, it is certainly time for Awami League to go. People gave them three opportunities to run the country and every time they seriously disappointed the people. Sadiqur Rahman Chowdhury
I doubt the accuracy of this survey. Due to my profession, I have to work with a wide variety of local people and from my discussion with those people, I think, AL has no reason to be able to keep their vote bank steady. Abul, U.K.
We thank the DS for the effort. Here as you keep repeating the outcome of the 2008 general election, we beg to differ. BNP did not lose its core votes and we have seen how the mass has responded to Khaleda Zia's election tour. Anonymous
The ruling Awami League is sleeping on the job and will not wake up till the party loses the election. As the party is losing its popularity, why not Hasina resigns from her position and give it to someone within AL, perhaps someone younger and with vision, who can do more for the country? Abu S Azad
The questions should have been specific based on AL's manifesto, not as vague as these. I wonder why BNP's score did not fall, because they have been very negative all through. Freeman
Awami League -led government leads better than BNP-Jamaat government. But the AL will lose only because of two reasons: Bangladesh Chhatra League's (BCL) activities and scrapping of CG. S Noor
The common people should wake up and vote for a massive change, eliminating both the parties. It is time for reform and development. This country is extremely resourceful in every way to be more developed. Opee Monir
Awami League has all the reason to worry about and there is simply not enough time for AL to regain that ground. I disagree with the analysis made by The Daily Star. Rajshahi, Narayanganj and Comilla city corporation election results show us that the people are getting ready for an alternative leadership.
