Body to bring congenial atmosphere back in Sust
A seven-member committee was formed yesterday to bring congenial atmosphere back at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust).
Student Affairs Adviser Prof Anwarul Islam will lead the committee.
Other members of the committee are Sust Teachers Association President Prof kabir Hossain and the provosts of the student dormitories.
The committee will look into the ongoing stalemate in the university following the clash between the ruling party-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League and the Jamaat- backed Islami Chhatra Shibir on January 11.
Academic activities in the university remained suspended as the Shibir men called an indefinite strike since last Sunday demanding withdrawal of the cases filed against their activists in connection with the vandalism on the campus.
Police arrested 28 people, including a union parishad chairman, in this connection.
An emergency meeting of Academic Council will be held at 11:00am today, said Registrar Ishfaqul Hossain.
