Man attacks in-law's family for second marriage denial
Five injured
A man and his family yesterday beat up five persons, including his wife and in-laws, after being denied permission for a second marriage at Laxmirdar village in Atwary upazila.
Saifun Nahar, 22, wife of Mozaharul Islam; Chutumai, 45, aunt of Saifun; and Mokbular Rahman, 38, her uncle; were admitted to Boda Upazila Health Complex.
The injured others are Balarampur UP member Pulin Chandra Barman, 55, and Saifun's another uncle Osman Ali.
Saifun Nahar, daughter of Md Shamsuzzoha of Shahapara village, was married to Mozaharul Islam alias Gandu of Laxirdar village seven years before.
For the last two years, Mozahar now and then tortured Saifun for getting her permission to marry another woman.
Yesterday, Saifun's family members and relatives went to Mozahar's house to settle the matter.
At one stage, Mozahar and his family members attacked Saifun's family, leaving five persons, including the UP member, injured.
Saifun's father said he was taking preparation for file a case with Boda Police Station.
