Accused beaten by rivals
A prime accused in the murder of local Swechchhasebok League leader was injured when his rivals attacked him following a previous dispute over sand trading in the city's Badda area on Wednesday night.
Injured Alamgir Hossain, 32, was admitted to the city's Apollo Hospitals.
An armed gang, led by Killer Titu of Khulna, Joynal of Merul Badda and Jamai Based of Badda, entered the house of Alamgir and beat him, said Badda police.
The attackers also tried to abduct him, which was foiled by the chase of local people.
Local Swechchhasebok League leader Mamun Hossain died in bomb attack on December 29 last year.
