Muggers loot city jewellery shop
A group of muggers snatched gold ornaments weighing around 2.5 tolas from a jewellery shop in the city's Mirpur yesterday noon.
Owners of some jewelry shops said seven youths in guise of customers arrived at Eureka Jewellers at Shah Ali Shopping Complex in Mirpur-1 at around 2:00pm and snatched the ornaments tying up the lone salesman.
Hearing cry for help from two female customers, locals chased the muggers. Later, the criminals fled the scene exploding crackers that left Sunil Ghosh, 28, a jewellery shop owner wounded. He took treatment in a hospital.
OC of Darussalam Police Station Abdul Malek claimed that the muggers could not take any ornament from the shop.
Traders said they shut down their shops following the incident.
