Hearing on charge framing against Quader Mollah today
The International Crimes Tribunal will hear today on charge framing against Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Abdul Quader Mollah in connection with crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War in 1971.
Detained Quader Mollah, who faces seven specific charges of crimes against humanity, would be brought to the tribunal today, tribunal registrar Shahinur Islam told The Daily Star.
The prosecution on December 18 last year submitted the formal charges against Quader Mollah to the tribunal, which included killing, looting and arson in the city's Mirpur and Mohammadpur and Keraniganj on the outskirts of the city during the war.
On December 28 last year, the tribunal took the charges against Quader Mollah into cognisance for his trial and fixed today for hearing on framing charges.
Around 30 lakh Bangalees were killed and some 2 lakh women violated by the Pakistani occupation forces and their Bangladeshi collaborators during the war.
