Killing of opposition men protested
Expressing deep concern over the killing of opposition activists during clashes with law enforcers, two left-leaning organisations yesterday condemned such incidents and demanded punishment of the responsible persons.
In a statement, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal said Ruling Awami League was pushing the country towards violence announcing counter programme against the opposition's pre-scheduled programme, which was not acceptable.
Meanwhile, Ganotantrik Bam Morcha, a coalition of some left-leaning parties, condemned the incidents and demanded punishment of the responsible persons.
Four persons, including two BNP activists, died in Laxmipur and Chandpur towns yesterday when police fired on BNP supporters who gathered in front of the party offices to bring out pre-scheduled processions.
