15 RMG workers hurt in stampede during fire
At least 15 garment workers were injured in a stampede when they came out of a garment factory in Keoa Baherachala village of Sreepur upazila during a fire yesterday.
Six seriously injured workers were admitted to Al Hera Hospital and Al Hera Medical Centre at Maona Crossing.
The workers said the fire originated on the fourth floor of the factory Taqwa Libas at around 10:45am.
They tried to douse the flames but failed. They tried to come out of the factory, triggering a stampede.
Two fire fighting units from Gazipur and Bhaluka rushed in and brought the fire under control.
The extent of loss could not be estimated immediately.
