7,345 absent on second day
A total of 7,345 candidates were absent on the second day of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations while 38 students and two teachers were expelled for adopting unfair means.
According to sources at the education ministry's examination control room, some 3,390 students under Madrasa board did not take part in the Bangla second paper examination.
While 1,040 students under Dhaka board, 560 under Rajshahi, 497 under Jessore, 423 under Comilla, 337 under Dinajpur, 225 under Chittagong, 137 under Barisal, 108 under Sylhet and 628 students under Technical board were absent from the examination.
The ministry's control room sources said that some 25 students under Madrasa board, seven under Technical education board, two under Chittagong board, one each under Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jessore, and Dinajpur boards respectively were expelled.
While two expelled teachers were invigilating examinations under Madrasa board.
The month-long SSC, Dakhil and SSC vocational examinations for 2012 were begun on Wednesday. Eight education boards, one Madrasa Education Board and one Technical Education Board are holding the examinations.
The SSC examinees will appear in English first paper examination on Monday next.
